Our first feature,The Starfish Principle was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa in January 2008.

It is an independently funded documentary that focuses on vision, hope and building bridges. We filmed individuals and groups who are creating positive change. Our focus is on community, youth and the Aids situation.

Seeing beyond the despair and hopelessness, and reaching out to make a change and a difference. Seeing the possibility in everyone and in every situation.

So often there is huge overwhelm that blocks the will and people’s ability to find solutions. People often feel broken down by isolation, betrayals, loss of trust, hunger and poverty.  In this film we interviewed people, groups and organisations, listened to their stories, bearing witness to their hopes, dreams, despair and struggles.

In South Africa there is a vibrant diverse culture struggling greatly as a result of huge past oppressions and exploitations. The legacy of war, Apartheid, much corruption and now the big health and poverty crisis around HIV, AIDS, TB and the lack of adequate treatments and prevention.

We interviewed people, heard their stories and followed them in their daily activities.  We hope to build bridges in communication, healing, forgiveness and to nurture community. We hope to inspire, demonstrate solidarity and also empower the projects and people we came into contact with. Witnessing, listening with respect and honouring.

There are people in the world who are doing good, and who, want to help people for no other reason then they feel it is not a choice but a way of life, and that we as human beings are not separated by our blood, but are each others brothers and sisters, and children.

We wish to demonstrate along with all the problems in this age of Globalisation that there is great possibility in our numbers.  Individuals are becoming empowered and more of us are living with principles of self-responsibility, forgiveness and cooperation.  We wish to demonstrate Love in Action and create a Wave of Possibility around the world. We hope to move and open the heart of the viewer and open up support, cooperation and action for these individuals and groups.

Although this is a small self-funded project, we hope we have created something empowering. We are looking to submit the film into film festivals throughout the world.
